| POSTER CHILD (1) Definition: (especially North American English) A child with a particular illness or other problem whose picture appears on a poster advertising an organization that helps children with that illness or problem. ______________________________________________________________________ * All six elements should be in. 1. Purposeful and necessary, to pass message with child's picture, even if child is a victim of abuse or neglect. 2. Photograph of child will be one that was recently taken. And pic is not sexed-up. Also, picture is, strictly not a painting, whether subject is a handsome/beautiful or not-so-good looking child. 3. Illness or problem will be clearly highlighted by child's pose. That is, a caption or an 'epistle' will not be needed to support advert, chubby-cheeked or half-dressed child or ... _________________________ NEVER A SMILING FACE ... (See perfect GURNER.) 4. 'Model' will be handsomely paid. That is, child being used as a tool for publicity, by organization, will be adequately remunerated or compensated for service rendered. 5. An immediate commencement of treatment of ill child or a robust and focused attention will begin to be paid to particular problem, soon after picture is taken and advertisement is out (to emphasize). 6. Desired impact or effect will be got from child's picture as seen by members of the public. That is, a reaction or response, arising from thoughts, will lead to a positive suggestion, substantial contribution, desired change in attitude, etc. That is, advert will serve purpose(s). _______________________________________ ...
