| SPOILS SYSTEM Definition: (usually - the spoils system) The arrangement in US politics which allows the President to give government jobs to supporters after winning an election. ______________________________________________________________________ * All eight elements would be in. 1. Arrangement is believed to be purposeful and a necessity. 2. Supporters broke no laws during campaigning or electioneering. 3. No promise or pledges will be made by candidate before the winning. 4. No undue pressure will be mounted to get the nominees confirmed or to get a contract or an honour approved. 5. Privilege or liberty will not be 'cast in stone'; cannot be backed by a law or justified by some rule or a particular regulation. 6. Appointees will not be immune from a sack, redeployment, etc. And contract, etc. will not be impossible to cancel, renegotiate, etc. 7. Support rendered by beneficiaries will remain after securing the positions or jobs, way beyond a President's mandate or term expiring. 8. Best efforts will be put in by those who benefit from cronyism, to the benefit of the electorate and the American public.
