| SPORTS WRITER Definition: A journalist who writes about sports. ______________________________________________________________________ * All nine elements should be in. 1. Has a purpose and considers job a necessity. 2. Specialized in a particular sport or in only a select few. 3. Previously played sport(s), or currently plays the sport(s). 4. Familiar with the rules/regulations guiding sporting activities. 5. Will not be biased, partial or display favouritism or prejudice in his or her reporting or reportage, write-ups or columns. And should witness or watch sporting event or listen fully and attentively to commentary before filing his or her reports or dispatches. 6. Provides factual information, be these up-to-date or historical. 7. Knows the current standings, positions, etc. and/or the latest ranking, seeding, etc. of teams, players, etc. in the sport. And will fully understand the structure and administration in place for a tournament or competition that he or she covers. 8. Will not write under a pen-name or pseudonym. (Connect to #5.) 9.
