| WHALE OIL Definition: A true fat, obtained from whales, consisting almost entirely of one molecule of glycerol in combination with three of fatty acids. By a process in which molecules of hydrogen are added to molecules of fatty matter in the presence of a nickel catalyst, whale oil is converted into high-grade soapmaking material and an edible fat used in the manufacture of margarine and other cooking fats. ___________________________________ See perfect fat (1).
